I am currently a PhD student at the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies. My area of study is arachnology and my dissertation focuses on the biodiversity of three orb-weaving spider families. For my Mphil. I looked at the autecology of web-building spiders. However, I study a variety of spider families found in the Neotropics. |
Background
The number of spider species currently known stands at about 40,000, of a total of perhaps 170,000 species. The worldwide spider fauna is thus still far from completely known, especially in the Neotropics, northern South America and the Caribbean.
Current Research My current research is a series of biodiversity studies on three orb-weaving spider families, Araneidae, Nephilidae and Tetragnathidae.
Other
Research Projects I have conducted preliminary studies on the spider fauna of other Eastern Caribbean islands, including St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, Antigua, Grenada, Montserrat and St. Lucia.
